Krol
Discussion with Krol.Today, for the 4th episode of Abracadaba Radio, I'm super happy to host Krol.
Fresh or old tracks, current or unreleased gems, this set is ready to catch your ears.

Krol's journey as an artist began against the backdrop of his passion for percussion. Having spent years honing his skills as a drummer, he embarked on a new creative path by delving into the world of electronic music production. This transition allowed him to use his rhythmic expertise into crafting captivating compositions that resonate with listeners.
In this article, we delve into the fascinating world of Krol, exploring his musical evolution, notable works, and the impact he has had on the electronic music scene.
My words are not only there because it’s one of my best friends but because I’m truly happy to host him and have a different talk about his project.
1. Musical Background Could you tell us about your background as a drummer and how it has influenced your journey as an electronic music producer?

I have always been passionate about rhythm and drums since I was a child. I was lucky enough to take my first steps in the world of drums at the age of 8 with Olivier Baldissera, my first teacher and outstanding drummer, who taught me drums and with whom I was able to share a few years of music theory. In almost 6 years, this taught me a lot of things, understanding a score, understanding composition, rhythm construction etc. These are things that still help me a lot today in electronic music production.
Can you please have some words about the project Salade de Fruits?
It was one of the first project of my dear friend Martin and it was the first project I’ve been involved in as a DJ. We shared it with friends, with a full range of universes and music. It allowed us to improve our skills and we’ve been able to discover electronic music in an eclectic way.
It also allowed me to understand the importance of being a team, sharing ideas, debating and fighting for a project.
It gives me the opportunity to play in my first events, it will for sure remain incredible.

Can you quote 5 big influences on your art?
My biggest influences comes from my dear friends Aman Umber and Aline Brooklyn, please, listen to their tracks it's just out of this world!

The works of the artist Eva Aeppli. A dark and beautiful universe at the same time, I love to dive into her world, it still gives me a lot of inspiration.

My father gave me a lot of his records, he always allowed me to listen to all kinds of music. It’s influenced me a lot in my music dig and in the production.
In a more general way, I’m inspired by the work of all the artists around me and we are lucky to have such an incredible electronic scene in France!
Can you please talk about your relationship with Aman Umber ? I met Aman Umber thanks to you haha! It was an instant match!
He teached me a lot about music production. The importance of choosing the right machines, to have a pure and great sound, to push the sessions to their limits. It's to him that I showed my very first track (I still don't understand that we stayed friends after that haha.) I've always continued to work with him, he's an endless source of inspiration. I joined his Sync Music company "Willow Six Media" and it also helps me to work on other musical universes. It's very interesting to compose music for advertising purposes. More recently we launched our digital label "Telluric Village" with the track "Rock It Out". We have more upcoming projects and I can't wait to share them all!

Can you please talk about your relation with the Mixed Feeling Series?
Mixed Feelings Series is the project of my Saudi friend Danah. I had just released my very first EP in 2021 and one morning I got a notification on instagram, it was my first track "Space Sea" played by Danah at XP music. I thought to myself "what the hell is this". We got in touch like that, we exchanged a lot on our vision of music, sending each other music, sharing our projects etc. One day she sent me a message saying "You're coming to Saudi Arabia in June, you'll play for Mixed Feelings and Karaz Disco". I immediately took this opportunity and that's how I found myself playing for the first time internationally with my brothers Aman and Aline. I have incredible memories of it! We met exceptional people there. Still today it remains a very good friend and obviously new projects are coming!

2. Questions about your set:
What elements or themes do you try to include in your sets for radio shows? In fact, this is the first time I've recorded a podcast for a radio show! It was not easy, I tried to have a very evolutive selection in 1 hour to show the different kinds of tracks I can play in different situations.
Are there any particular tracks or artists that you have included in your set you are excited about? Of course, there is an exclusive track with my dear Aman Umber, which will certainly be released by the end of the year. There is also some music from the Italian producer Ricky Montanari, I love his universe and his sounds. There is also some music from the OG Jake Childs, an outstanding producer, if you don’t know him, I invite you to listen to his discography.
3. Future Plans:
What can we expect from you in terms of upcoming releases or projects? I locked myself up for almost a year in the studio to find the kind of music I really want to produce, understand the machines, find my workflow etc. That's part of the reason why I haven't released much music. But fortunately I have a few projects that should be out this year. I'm not interested in releasing tracks just for the sake of releasing tracks, I really want to share with people the best aspects of my music.
Any Abracadabra release?
I hope so! There is so much to do, it should happen very soon.
New Telluric Village releases? Yes! But I won’tto say too much at the moment. I can't wait for everything to fall into place and for the label to grow.
Can you tell us a bit more about your label project? Where’s the name from?
It came from a common desire with Aman, we said to ourselves that we should propose a label with digital music, while keeping the solar and retro house side of the 90s that we love so much. So we created Telluric Village. We are lucky to have artwork from the work of the Lebanese-Armenian artist Alexandra Bitar, the universes of her works fits super well with the spirit of the label, we are so happy. Telluric Village comes from a mysterious place where we all get together, we connect, we exchange, we party, but I can't say more, it would lose its magical spirit.
Are there any upcoming collaborations you are excited about? Yes, a track will be released in June for the Mixed Feelings series, it will probably be my only digital release of the year, I can't wait for you to listen to it !
4. Others
What do Abracadabra make you think of ? It’s a powerful word, it makes me think of great mysteries, legends, and magic. It is especially the moment where the "supernatural" comes in.
Do you love magic ?
Of course ! Who doesn’t ?
